Background

RightsWise Investing was originally created to support Luminate in applying a digital rights lens to its investing practices and portfolio support services. Through our research we recognized that the RightsWise framework and resources could also be highly leveraged by other investors, particularly those in traditional venture capital. The framework is designed to guide early-stage investors in considering five categories of startup capacity to manage digital rights impacts. It is our goal and intention that this framework evolve and expand to help investors make decisions about whether to invest and how best to support startups post-investment so that we have a more rights-aware tech industry that benefits all of society.
